Reviews

Roger Ebert wrote in the Chicago Sun - Times on March 12, 1976, the film is an unfortunate attempt to construct a modern fairy tale. He was well-intentioned; a remake of Robinson Crusoe with the same cast could have been interesting. The contrasting acting approaches of Peter O'Toole and Richard Roundtree are interesting, but the main characters are the " grace of the screenplay " delivered.

Rotten Tomatoes wrote that " subversive satirical variation " of the story was a " naughty " criticism of colonialism, racism and class system.

The lexicon of international film wrote that the film was a " clever anti - colonization history as often bitterly ironic settlement with the patriarchal, self-righteous attitude of white Weltbeglücker ".

The magazine TV Movie 6/2008 wrote that the film was " politically correct, but unfortunately, many ". He may show Robinson as " simple-minded exploiters " during Friday as am working.
