Richard Ruin et Les Demoniaques is a German post-rock band, founded in Berlin in 2003 by the visual artist Martin Eder. The Group meets since 2010 under the name RUIN.

The singer Richard Ruin is an alter ego Martin Eder. Occasionally Eder flirts with his second identity, he claimed in a television report by Deutsche Welle, not to know the painter. Current occupation are Richard Ruin (vocals, guitar), Mike Strauss ( keyboards), Roderick Miller (keyboards ), Thomas Fietz (drums), Achim Färber (drums) and Jonathan Heine ( bass), Moritz Stumm ( visuals).

Band History

The band was formed with the original aim to create a soundtrack to an imaginary film of 2003. The first members were Richard Ruin, Mike Strauss ( Les Hommes Sauvages ), Dirk Müller and Yoyo Röhm, and soon after met Roderick Miller ( Bee and Flower ) and Stefan Creutzburg it.

Guests on the first album, "The Heimlich Manoeuvre " were, among others, Thomas Wydler ( Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds ), Larry Mullins aka Toby Dammit ( Iggy Pop / Jessie Evans ) and Kristof Hahn ( Swans / Les Hommes Sauvages ). Live work involved ( Einstürzende Neubauten) multiple Achim Färber ( Project Pitchfork, among others ) and Jochen.

The band's sound was difficult to assign from the beginning a certain genre. Characteristic of the first of his career and was a generally melancholy undertone to almost pathetic in all things, in the sense of classical ballads of Roy Orbison to Bobby Vinton. The Items were added to the analog noise and distortion. This created a very own musical expression. By staff restructuring also the music style changed always further up to the conscious deconstruction accustomed song structures and modes of reception. Principle of the band is to break stereotypes and to subvert expectations by arrangements and unusual stage spectacle. In all pieces of music, a sublime macabre, or desperate undertone can both lyrically and music aesthetically recognize which one can categorize as " spooky " or surreal dreamlike. Thus, Richard Ruin et Les Demoniaques to 2009 among others classified as founder of the Chanson Noir.

Since RUIN usually use visual media as well as actors in their lavish stage shows, concerts rarely it preferentially to selected and relevant theater venues instead.

With the experimental deconstructive phase in the musical work and cooperation with the Berlin avant-garde classical ensemble of soloists kaleidoscope, RUIN is from the end of 2009 combines a pioneer of a new genre, the elements of Ambient Black Metal with modern orchestral composition.
