Richard Schell

Richard Schell ( 1810 born May 15, Rhinebeck, New York, † November 10, 1879 in New York City ) was an American politician. He represented in the years 1874 and 1875 the New York State in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Richard Schell was born about two years before the outbreak of the British - American War in Rhinebeck and grew up there. He completed his preliminary studies. He then went to commercial transactions. In 1830 he moved to New York City, where he was a wholesaler of dry goods (dry -goods ) worked. He sat then in 1857 in the Senate from New York. Politically, he was a member of the Democratic Party.

Schell was in a by-election on 7 December 1874 ninth electoral district of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, there to fill the vacancy that was created by the death of David B. Mellish. He retired after March 3, 1875 from the Congress.

After his conference time he went back to his commercial transactions. He died on November 10, 1879 in New York City and was buried in the Old Dutch Cemetery in Rhinebeck.
