Richard Thomas (Pennsylvania)

Richard Thomas ( born December 30, 1744 West Whiteland, Chester County, Pennsylvania, † January 19, 1832 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania ) was an American politician. Between 1795 and 1801 he represented the State of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Richard Thomas grew up during the British colonial period. He was educated at home by private tutors. In the 1770s he joined the American Revolution. During the Revolutionary War he was colonel of a regiment of volunteers from the Chester County. Politically, he was later established member of the end of the 1790s by Alexander Hamilton Federalist Party.

In the congressional elections of 1794, Thomas was selected in the third constituency of the State of Pennsylvania in the Council, meeting at that time still in Philadelphia U.S. House of Representatives. After two re- election he was able to complete in Congress until March 3, 1801 three legislative periods. After his time in the U.S. House of Representatives, Richard Thomas operated in agriculture. He died on January 19, 1832 in Philadelphia.
