Rick Mitchell

Rick Mitchell (actually: Richard Charles Mitchell, born March 24, 1955 in Sydney ) is a former Australian sprinter.

At the Olympic Games in Montreal in 1976, he was sixth in the 400m. About 200 m from the lead as he left as with the Australian team in the 4 x 400 - meter relay.

In 1978 he won at the Commonwealth Games in Edmonton over 400 m and won with the Australian relay bronze. In 1980, he won the 400m silver medal at the Olympic Games in Moscow behind Viktor Markin by the host country. Two more silver medals were awarded at the Commonwealth Games in 1982 in Brisbane about 400 m and the 4 x 400 - meter relay.

His last appearance at an international championship he had two years later at the Olympic Games in Los Angeles. With the Australian relay race he came in fourth place.

1976, 1977 and 1980, he became an Australian Champion over 400 meters.
