Rick van der Ven

Rick van der Ven ( * April 14, 1991 in Oss ) is a Dutch archer.

Career

Van der Ven is a mechanical engineering student at ROC de Leijgraaf in Veghel. He is a member of the club De Vriendenkring 1897 Schaijk and trained with Wietse van Alten.

In 2009 he was in Ogden (USA) Junior World Championship runner with the recurve bow. Two years later, at the Junior World Championships in Legnica, he won the silver medal in the Mixed Competition and the bronze medal in the team competition. In the individual competition he finished fourth.

In the senior level, he was in 2010 at the European Championships in Rovereto (Italy ) each finished ninth in singles and with the team. In May 2012, he was at the European Championships in Amsterdam, both in single as well as with the Dutch team European champion. He qualified for the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. There he was after defeats in the play-off against the Japanese Takaharu Furukawa in the semifinals and the Chinese Dai Xiaoxiang in the match for 3rd place fourth.

At the world championships in archery in 2013 in Antalya ( Turkey), he won together with Rick van den Oever and Sjef van den Berg the silver medal in the team competition.

His sister Kirsten is also a member of the Dutch national team in archery.
