Ricketwil

Ricketwil is an outer guard and a neighborhood of the city of Winterthur. Together with the neighborhoods Talacker, Guggenbühl, Groat, Hegmatten, Hegi, Zinzikon, Reutlingen, Stadel, it forms the circle 2 (Upper Winterthur). A direct access to Winterthur is only available from lakes forth.

Geography

The hamlet Ricketwil located in the southeast of the city of Winterthur behind the forest belt Andelsbach / Hegiberg on a shoulder on the Eulachtal above Elsau - Räterschen. The highest elevation of Winterthur, the altitude of 681 m. M. lying Hulmen, southeast above Ricketwil. On a clear day the ancient volcanic mountains Hohenstoffeln and Hohenhöwen at singing / Donaueschingen on the northern horizon are clearly visible.

The little east just inside city limits springing Mattenbach flows through the outer guard.

Education

History

The hamlet Ricketwil originated around the 8th century from a Rodungshof. In the 15th century this came by inheritance from the last baron of blades along with the bailiwicks Oberwinterthur and Wiesendangen to the Counts of Fürstenberg. This was built in 1476 along with the fief were given a new court, which still exists today. 1541 this farm was divided into two parts in the fief assignment, whereby the two Zelge emerged top and Unterricketswil. After the Counts of Fürstenberg did not follow several generations of the fief assignment, they released Ricketwil 1641 from the feudal rule. Now Ricketwil could develop freely, which had among other things, the New Home consequence.
