Talacker

Talacker is a district of the city of Winterthur. Together with the neighborhoods Guggenbühl, Groat, Hegmatten, Hegi, Zinzikon, Reutlingen, Stadel and Ricketwil it forms the circle 2 (Upper Winterthur).

Neighborhood structure

The district Talacker includes the historic center of Winterthur and top, the modern center of the city circle top Winterthur. In addition to the well-preserved half-timbered houses in the village and several large apartment blocks include a row of terraced houses in the south and a single family home and uptown: a scenic hillside to the quarters. Two roads run through the quarter: The Frauenfelderstrasse and Rychenbergstrasse. The district has about 6000 inhabitants. 22 % of the inhabitants are of foreign nationality. 17 % of the residents are senior citizens.

As the center of the city quarters circle 2, the district Talacker on a good infrastructure. Several shops and restaurants, a post office, a Reformed and a Catholic church, two upper school houses ( Lindberg, Talacker ), three primary school buildings (except village, village, Talacker ), kindergartens and sports facilities. The annual town festival circuit ( Oberi old town festival ) takes place in the historic village.

Important people

The ETH Zurich professor and Nobel laureate in Chemistry Richard R. Ernst lived in this neighborhood for a long time.

Traffic

From public transportation, the lodging with the lines 1 and 10 of the Winterthur city bus is accessed. The upper Winterthur train station is situated on the eastern border of the neighborhood.

Curiosities

The row house south of the Frauenfelderstrasse lying is popularly known Birchermüesli quarters. Reason, the local street names as Apfelweg, Quittenweg, Birnenweg or Pfirsichweg.
