Rido

The Rido is occurring especially in Mindanao, Philippines blood feud between family clans. This provides that in a person's blood revenge perpetrated when they violated the honor of a family or a member of a family murdered. An example is the internationally bulged in the media massacre in Maguindanao.

Statistics

Between 1930 and 2005, 1,266 Rido cases in which more than 5,500 people lost their lives, were documented. The four provinces with the highest number of Rido cases are Lanao del Sur with 377, 218 with Maguindanao, Lanao del Norte with 164 and Sulu with 145 cases, which account for 71% of all reported cases in the context. In the years 2002 to 2004, an increase of the deeds was recorded by 50%. 64 % of the cases remained unsolved.
