Rimavské Janovce
Rimavské Janovce (Slovak 1927-1948 " Jánošovce " - to 1927 " Janošovce "; Hungarian Jánosi ) is a municipality in the south- central Slovakia, with 1328 inhabitants ( 31 December 2011) and is located in Okres Rimavská Sobota, a circle of Banskobystrický kraj.
Geography
The municipality is located in the boiler Juhoslovenská kotlina (literally Südslowakischer boiler), subunit Rimavská kotlina the river Rimava which bypasses the city in a semicircle west. The city Rimavská Sobota located six kilometers north of the town center.
History
The community Rimavské Janovce was first mentioned in 1221 as Janus writing. The settlement was a good of a Benedictine abbey, which went down to the time of the Reformation; 1427 are listed here Porta 33. After that, the place belonged to various landowners. In 1837 the town had 1,276 inhabitants, who were mostly engaged in agriculture and tobacco.
