Rinaldo Veri

Rinaldo Veri ( born April 22, 1952 in Mumbai, India ) is an Italian admiral. From March 2011 to January 2013, he commanded the Allied Maritime Command Naples Allied Joint Force Command Naples of and thus the naval forces that enforce as part of Operation Unified Protector an arms embargo against Libya. Veri is currently Head of the Leadership Academy of the Italian armed forces.

Life

Veri attended Campion School in what was then Bombay, where his father had emigrated. In 1975 he graduated from officer training at the Naval Academy in Livorno and then completed a pilot training in the United States. From 1978 to 1982, he flew from land bases and warships from helicopter of the Italian Navy. In July 1982, he assumed his first command at sea, the speedboat Lampo (P 491 ), the following year, then the Corvette Aquila (F 542). In 1984, he returned as an instructor at the Naval Academy back to Livorno. From 1986 to 1990 he was the Defense Ministry in Rome, initially in the defense sector, then the General Staff of the Armed Forces.
