Rincon (surfspot)

Rincon Beach Park is a beach southeast of the city of Carpinteria, California. The beach is popular with surfers popular.

Geography

The Rincon Beach Park is located halfway between Santa Barbara and Ventura on the west coast of the United States. The park belongs to the city of Carpinteria. In the north and east limits of U.S. Highway 101 to the park, to the west the nature reserve Carpinteria Bluffs Natural Reserve and a golf center. In the south stands a headland with a residential area in the sea. On the edge of an industrial park area, with several restaurants. Between the Park and its beach is a steep slope. On the edge of Rincon, the railway line of the Pacific Surfliner runs.

Etymology

The name comes from Spanish and means " corner". It describes the design of the coast, which looks like a big curve.

Use

The beach of the park is very popular with surfers. Often you can find 150 to 200 surfers at Rincon simultaneously. Popular of the beach is mainly because of its large waves hit the most in winter and at low tide on the coast. Sometimes the waves are big enough so that surfers can ride up to 275m on them. The Rincon Surf beach consists of three areas, who call themselves Cove, Indicator and River Mouth. The book 100 Best Surf Spots in the World Rincon has awarded the rank 24. Rincon is sometimes closed due to water pollution, as in the north open multiple dischargers and a river.

The park is also used as a recreation area. In addition to free parking, the site offers a large picnic area with covered benches and a barbecue area.
