Rio Branco Esporte Clube

Rio Branco Esporte Clube, commonly referred to simply as Rio Branco or Rio Branco -SP, is a Brazilian football club from the city of Americana in the state of São Paulo. He is currently represented in the Série A2, the second division of Campeonato Paulista.

History

On August 4, 1913, the club was founded as Sport Club Arromba and renamed in 1917 in Rio Branco Football Club, inspired by the Brazilian politician José Maria da Silva Júnior Paranhos, the Baron of Rio Branco. 1922 and 1923 they won the Campeonato Paulista do Interior. In the 1940s, the matches of the football department was set, however.

In 1961 the club name was translated into Portuguese, the club was called from now on Rio Branco Futebol Clube. In April 1979 merged Rio Branco and another local club Esporte Clube on Americana and the football department was reactivated. In 1990, the club won the Campeonato Paulista (second league) and played first class in the following season. In 1993 the club achieved a 6th place. 2001 could be sixth, almost reaching the semi-finals again. A year later the club even third. In February 2011, we supplemented the mostly consisting of experienced former Erstligaprofis squad with the former top scorer in the German Bundesliga Aílton.

Currently the club plays its home games at Estádio Décio Vitta, which holds 16,000 spectators. The official club colors are white and black. The home jersey is white, the shorts and socks are black. The club anthem was composed by Cleber Corradi. The mascot of the club is the home shirt wearing tiger. The nickname of the club is " O Tigre ".
