Río Colorado, Río Negro

Río Colorado is the capital of the department Pichi Mahuida in the province of Río Negro in southern Argentina.

History

During the desert campaign in 1879, the troops of Julio Argentino Roca crossed the Río Colorado and beat on the opposite bank in a shady spot to set up camp and called it then Buena Parada ( Good stopping place ). In the 20th century Buena Parada became the capital of the department of Adolfo Alsina. With the construction of the railway was built in about 3 kilometers from a railway station and moved the population to. From Río Colorado, was the founding date is March 29, 1901.
