Ripoll
Ripoll is a city in the province of Girona in Catalonia (Spain). It was founded at the confluence of the rivers Ter and its tributary Freser and is the capital of the comarca Ripollès in the Catalan Pre-Pyrenees. The city has 10,798 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2013 ) and an area of 10.19 km ².

History
Nucleus of the village is Santa Maria de Ripoll, a former Benedictine abbey. This monastery was founded by the Count the Hairy Wilfried ( Guifré el PILOS ) 879 or 880. He is buried in the church. The monastery is famous for its Illumination ( local museum ).
