Riversdale ( Afrikaans: Riversdal ) is a South African town, which lies on the N2 between Cape Town and George. It is located at the foot of the Langeberg Mountains. Riversdale is dominated by agriculture, but is the central hub for services and purchases of the surrounding farms, small towns and the coastal towns of Witsand and Stilbaai.

In Riversdale 16,176 inhabitants live on 68.66 km ² (as of 2011 ).

History

Riversdale was founded as a church on the site of the farm Doornskraal. Later it was named after the reigning in Swellendam, local Landdrost Harry Rivers. Since August 30, 1838, there is a city law. Riversdale is also the seat of the Municipality of Hessequa.
