Riverside (Band)

Riverside (English for riverbank ) is a Progressive-Rock-/Progressive-Metal-Band from Warsaw, Poland.

Band History

The band was formed in 2001 as a side project. After two concerts in Warsaw in October 2002, the band introduced in March 2003 completed a demo, which was sent in an edition of 300 pieces to various radio stations and record labels within and outside Poland and earned them a recording contract with Sony Music Poland.

Even during the completion of their debut album the band split by Jacek Melnicki ( ex- Thunderbolt ), which was replaced by Michał Łapaj. In December 2003 it was published under the title Out of Myself. Nearly a year after the publication in Poland the record label Laser 's Edge brought the album on 21 September 2004 with a new, designed by Travis Smith Cover to market worldwide.

The second release was planned as a fan club CD EP Voices in My Head. The interest was so great that the EP officially hit the shelves.

After a self-organized tour, the band learned that the progressive label InsideOut Music had interest in the publication of a second album. They came in contact with the label and signed a contract. 2005 their second album Second Life Syndrome. The band announced that it is to be understood as the second part of a trilogy called Reality Dream. The idea for a trilogy came the band already during the recording of their debut album.

In September 2007, the album Rapid Eye Movement appeared as third and last part of the Reality Dream Trilogy.

In November and December 2008, there was a final Reality Dream Tour with concerts in Poland, the Netherlands, France, Germany, Belgium and Switzerland. As part of the concerts a 1,000 piece limited edition double audio CD of the concert in Toya Studios was sold as a limited edition of 500 pieces vinyl edition.

The fourth studio album titled Anno Domini High Definition and was published in June 2009 in Poland and in July 2009 in the rest of Europe and in the USA. In the second week it reached in Poland # 1 on the album charts, but remained there only a week. The Greek edition of Metal Hammer named it album of the month.

To mark the 10th anniversary of Riverside was released in May 2011, the EP Memories in My Head with new material. It contains three songs with a total playing time of 32:35 minutes. In August 2011, the Reality Dream Trilogy Box was released, which contains the complete first three albums, the EP Voices in My Head, the bonus CD Rapid Eye Movement II as well as a live album. The six - CD box set (but not all remixes ) includes all of the songs and bonus tracks from the years 2003 to 2008. The fifth studio album was released in January 2013.
