Rivière-du-Loup

Rivière -du -Loup is a town in the eponymous Canadian County Rivière -du -Loup, while their capital. The city on the western shore of the St. Lawrence River in 2010 counted a total of 19,192 inhabitants and has an area of ​​84.23 km ².

History

Rivière -du -Loup was founded in 1673 by Charles Aubert de la Chesnaye. The name derives from the eponymous river nearby Rivière du Loup, bearing the French name "Wolf River ". 1850, the growing congregation the settler Alexandre Fraser was renamed in honor in Fraser Ville and received city rights in 1910. 1919, the city received back their original names.
