The subway in Riyadh ( Riyadh officially Public Transport Project, in short: RPTP ) is a planned metro system in Riyadh, capital of Saudi Arabia, which total about $ 22.5 billion ( 17 billion euros ) cost should. The project was implemented by the High Commission for the Development of Arriyadh ( High Commission for the Development riads ). The plans were adopted by the Council of Ministers of Saudi Arabia on 23 April 2013. The result of the tender was announced on 29 July 2013. Chosen were doing three international consortia. Completion is scheduled for 2019. The project is the single largest infrastructure project in the history of Saudi Arabia. Construction is expected to begin in 2014.

Network

The planned network will include six lines with a total length of 170 km and 87 stations.

Operation

The plan is a fully automatic operation. Alstom wants 69 trains, each 36 meters long, for 1.2 billion euros and deliver signal technology. In trains, there will be two classes of cars, as well as separate areas for families and individuals.
