Rizhao

Rizhao (Chinese日照 市, pinyin Rizhao Shì ) is a prefecture-level city in east China's Shandong Province with a population of approximately 2.72 million ( end of 2003) on an area of ​​5310 km ². It is located on the southern half of the Shandong Peninsula, southwest of the port city of Qingdao.

In Rizhao Mandarin Chinese is spoken.

Administrative Divisions

At county level, Rizhao is made up of two districts and two counties. These are:

  • City Donggang District (东港区), 1507 km ², 840,000 inhabitants, center, seat of the city government;
  • Municipality Lanshan (岚山 区), 408 km ², 270,000 inhabitants;
  • Circle Wulian (五莲 县), 1443 km ², 510,000 inhabitants, capital: greater community Hongning (洪 凝 镇);
  • Circle Ju (莒县), 1952 km ², 1.1 million inhabitants, the capital: greater community Chengyang (城 阳镇).
