Robbie Ross

Robert Ross ( born May 25, 1869 in Canada, † October 5, 1918 ) was a journalist and art critic. He is considered the first lover of Oscar Wilde. He is known primarily as administrator of the estate of Oscar Wilde.

Oscar Wilde was married to Constance Lloyd, when he saw the 17 -year-olds for the first time. Robert Ross said later that he had been the first, " the Oscar has had ." As Oscar Wilde fell in love with Lord Alfred Douglas, this meant the end of the close relationship with Robert. Nevertheless, Ross was his editor, caring laboriously to his estate and published by Wilde's death, among others De Profundis, which he had written during his time in prison.

In 1950, on the 50th anniversary of Oscar Wilde's death, the ashes of Ross was buried in Wilde's tomb.
