Robert A. Underwood

Robert Anacletus Underwood ( born July 13, 1948 in Tamuning, Guam ) is an American politician (Democratic Party) and former Delegate of Guam in the House of Representatives of the United States.

Life

Underwood attended the John F. Kennedy High School in Tamuning. After finishing school in 1965 he studied at the California State University, Los Angeles and received in 1969 a Bachelor of Arts (BA), and in 1971 his Master of Arts (MA). Underwood taught now in various positions from 1976 to 1983 at the University of Guam Mangilao in. In 1987 he received his doctorate from the University of Southern California and received his Doctor of Education. From 1988 to 1992 he was active again at the University of Guam.

In 1992 he was elected as a Democrat to Congress and represented Guam there on 3 January 1993 to 3 January 2003 as a delegate in the House of Representatives. In the 2002 elections for the 108th Congress Underwood opted not to run again. Instead, he ran, albeit unsuccessfully, for the office of Governor of Guam. Since April 2008 he is the 10th president of the University of Guam.
