Robert Cade

James Robert Cade ( born September 26, 1927 in San Antonio, Texas; † 27 November 2007) was an American professor of medicine and physiology at the University of Florida and invented the sports drink Gatorade.

Cade graduated from the University of Texas at Austin and the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas in Dallas, Texas. During his time at college he went to the Delta -Wye connection. He was also in the Navy.

Cade invented Gatorade and offered to the rights of the beverage from the University of Florida, but did not accept the offer. Cade then entered into a contract with Stokley - Van Camp and began the drink for sale. As sales rose, asked the university to patent rights, but Cade did not give her. He used a portion of its profits to summon scholarships to life, and invested in local businesses. The University was a legal case against him and finally reached an agreement.
