Robert Guédiguian

Robert Guédiguian ( born December 3, 1953 in Marseille ) is a French film director German - Armenian descent. Most of his films are based in Marseille social dramas with a strong sympathy for disadvantaged groups such as workers or immigrants. His most famous film in Germany is Marius and Jeannette - Love in Marseille ( 1997).

His awards include the Louis- Delluc Prize in 1997 for Marius and Jeanette - Love in Marseille and the Grand Prize Golden ear of Semana Internacional de Cine de Valladolid 2000 The city devours its children. In 2011, he won the annual award since 2007 LUX Prize of the European Parliament for his feature film The Snows of Kilimanjaro, addressed the injustices of modern societies.
