Robert Jan van Pelt

Robert Jan van Pelt ( born August 15, 1955 in Haarlem, The Netherlands;, Robert -Jan van Pelt ) is a Dutch architectural historian.

Life

After studying art history and archeology that Pelt phil at Leiden University with the Dr.. graduated, his specialty is the architecture and history of urban development. He teaches as Professor of Cultural History at the Institute of Architecture of Waterloo University in Ontario, Canada. He also teaches at the universities of London, Singapore and the United States.

He was especially with its architecture historical works known about Auschwitz. For this he received the 1996 " National Jewish Book Award " and the 1997 " Spiro Kostof Award" of the Society of Architectural Historians. van Pelt appeared in the trial of David Irving and summed up his opinion in 2002 in a book together.

Robert Jan van Pelt is a member of the International Advisory Board of the Vienna Wiesenthal Institute for Holocaust Studies (VWI) since 2010.
