Robert K. von Weizsäcker

Robert Klaus Freiherr von Weizsäcker ( born December 6, 1954) is Professor of Economics at the Technical University of Munich and Honorary President of the German Chess Federation. This comes from the Palatine- Württemberg Weizsäcker family and is the eldest son of the former Federal President Richard von Weizsäcker and his wife Marianne.

Life

Von Weizsäcker studied mathematics and economics at the University of Bonn. After graduating with a degree in economics in 1980, the PhD at the London School of Economics / University of Bonn in 1985 and the Habilitation at the University of Bonn was made in 1990.

After two years as a lecturer at the University of Bonn and the Humboldt University of Berlin Robert von Weizsäcker in 1992 full professor of economics at the University of Halle -Wittenberg. In 1995 he moved to the University of Mannheim on a chair in economics, public finance and economic policy. After the rejection of a call in 2001 to the Goethe University in Frankfurt since 2003 he is Professor of Economics, Finance and Industrial Economics at the Technical University of Munich.

He was a Visiting Scholar at the University of Cambridge, Université Catholique de Louvain, the London School of Economics, Stanford University, the University of Oxford and at the International Monetary Fund in Washington DC From 2003 to 2007 he was a Faculty Member of the Munich Intellectual Property Law Center at the Max Planck Institute for Intellectual Property, Competition and Tax Law, and from 1994 to 2004 Research Fellow of the Centre for Economic Policy Research in London. He is a Research Fellow of the Ifo Institute for Economic Research in Munich and the Institute for the Study of Labor in Bonn. He was a Heisenberg Fellow of the German Research Foundation from 1997 to 1999 Member of the Science Council.
