Robert Leffler

Robert Leffler ( born January 9, 1866 in Aschersleben, † March 15, 1940 in Berlin) was a German singer, actor and director.

Life

Leffler appeared at first primarily as a singer in bass voice at various opera houses as in Nuremberg, Meiningen, Lübeck, Riga, Moscow and Dusseldorf, where he was for 17 years the head director and opera director at the city theater.

He played from 1919 to 1936 in 54 films, including the first silent film adaptation of the Buddenbrooks or together on the side of Hans Albers in several silent films. He also led in 15 films directed by himself.

His older brother Hermann (1864-1929) was also an actor.
