Robert Leighton (film editor)

Robert Leighton ( * in London, England ) is a British cutter.

Biography

The London-born Robert Leighton studied at the London Film School and then worked for a time as an assistant editor on the British broadcaster BBC, before 1975, emigrated to the United States. There he found work in the same year and assisted John C. Howard in the section at the Comedy Thriller Mastermind. His debut as a rogue cutter he gave in 1980 with the Australian- Dutch Action Drama Musical stunt rock, but under the pseudonym Robert H. Money.

1984 Leighton assisted the two section champions Kent Beyda and Kim Secrist. They cut Rob Reiner's directorial debut, This is Spinal Tap. Just one year later Leighton was the only responsible cutter for its comedy The Sure Thing. Since then, average Leighton all staged by Reiner films, sometimes alone sometimes in partnership with other editors. He had his biggest success to date when he was nominated for the Academy Awards in 1993 for his work on Reiners court Thriller A question of honor for Best Editing.
