Robert Norman

Robert Norman was an English sailor, compass manufacturers and scientists. It dealt among other things with the magnetism.

Life

Norman drove a long time at sea.

He eventually settled in London and built instruments.

As Georg Hartmann ( 1544), he dealt with the fact that the compass needle was not horizontal. He lay with associated knowledge about the discovered by Hartmann inclination also laid the foundation for later work William Gilbert. In addition, Norman designed the first Inklinationsbussole.

On the Moon, the crater Norman was named after him.
