Robert Pollard

Robert Pollard ( born October 31, 1957 in Dayton, Ohio ) is an American musician. He was the founder and head of the indie rock band Guided by Voices.

Life and work

After graduation Pollard graduated from Wright State University. He works to 1994 in addition to his music career as a high school teacher. Pollard has two children from his first marriage, which ended in divorce. In 2007 he married again.

His band Guided by Voices, he founded in the early eighties. He also worked on numerous solo projects. Pollard has written more than 1,000 songs and composed and is therefore considered one of the most productive songwriter.
