Robert Å pehar

Robert Špehar ( born May 13, 1970 in Osijek, SFR Yugoslavia ) is a former Croatian football player.

He played in the first division of Yugoslavia, Croatia, Belgium, France, Italy, Portugal, Turkey and Cyprus. Overall, he was once champion, twice and three times cup winner scorer.

Career

In the season 1988/89 Špehar was used in the NK Osijek in the first Yugoslavian league for the first time. After the founding of the first HNL he became the master player and was found regularly among the top scorers in the league. After he stood in the meantime for one and a half years at NK Zagreb under contract, he was in 1994/95 top scorer of the first Croatian league. Then he moved to the Jupiler League in Belgium for Club Brugge, where in 1996 he became Belgian champion and 1997 scorer. In the next few years he could not go on from his previous successes at AS Monaco, Hellas Verona, Sporting Lisbon, Galatasaray and Standard Liege (also due to recurring injuries). Back in Osijek he was in the 2003 /04 again top scorer of the first HNL before he ended his career in the following season at Omonia Nicosia.

For the Croatian national team he debuted on July 5, 1992 in Melbourne in a friendly against Australia. Overall, it was used eight times and scored one goal.

Since 30 August 2010, he is President of the NK Osijek. There, at the same time began his son Dino Špehar his professional career.
