Robert Young (athlete)

Robert Young ( Robert Clark "Bob" Young, born January 15, 1916 in Bakersfield, † February 3, 2011 ) was an American sprinter who competed mainly in the 400 -meter run.

When U.S. eliminator for the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin, he was indeed only fifth, but still came to a use in the 4 x 400 - meter relay, as the team manager, the relay together exhibited runners who had not taken up in the individual competition. Together with Harold Cagle Edward O'Brien and Alfred Fitch, he won in 3:11,0 min behind the British relay silver medal.

In 1937, he was 440 yards U.S. runner-up. His personal best times over 400 meters and 440 yards were each 47.1 s 1938 he ended his athletic career after an injury.

Robert Young is a graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles and worked as an accountant, before in 1955 he became winery in Paso Robles. He left behind his wife Alice, with whom he was married 71 years, and two sons.
