Roberta Bondar

Roberta Lynn Bondar, OC, O.Ont, FRSC ( born December 4, 1945 in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada) is a former Canadian astronaut.

In 1968 she received from the University of Guelph an undergraduate degree in zoology and animal husbandry, three years later, a master's degree in experimental pathology from the University of Western Ontario. The University of Toronto she received her PhD in 1971 in Neurobiology and the McMaster University in 1974 in human medicine. In addition, she has received several honorary doctorates.

1983 Bondar was selected for the Canadian space program as an astronaut. On board the Space Shuttle Discovery it belonged to the crew of mission STS -42, which lasted eight days.

1992 retired from Bondar from the astronaut corps of the Canadian Space Agency and devoted himself to academic tasks. In 2003 she became Rector of Trent University.
