Rocket Lab

Rocket Lab Ltd.. is a New Zealand company which rockets and propulsion systems designs and manufactures.

The first launch of Atea -1 ( Māori for ' space '), a suborbital sounding rocket was the end of 2009. 6 m long and weighing 60 kg missile can accommodate 2 kg payload to an altitude of 120 km. You should carry small scientific payloads and possibly also personal items.

Atea - 1 was successfully launched from Great Mercury Iceland near Coromandel on 30 November 2009, at 14:30, after refueling problems had postponed the original start at seven hours.

It is reported that a larger Atea -2 series is being planned.

In December 2010, Rocket Lab signed a contract with the Operationally Responsive Space Office (ORS ) to develop cost launchers for small satellites.

The company received some funding from the Foundation for Research, Science and Technology. The former Crown scientist Peter Beck is the founder, CEO and CTO.
