Rodele

Rodele ( German Rodehlen ) is a village in Poland, in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship. The village belongs to the municipality Barciany in powiat Kętrzyński.

Geography

Geographical location

The village is located about 16 kilometers south of the Polish border with the Russian Kaliningrad Oblast.

History

The first written mention of the village dates from the year 1419, other sources report the establishment of the village in 1427. From 18th to mid -19th century, the estate belonged to the Count of Schwerin in Dönhoff Städt and then the Count of Schwerin in Skandau. 1859 gave Sophie Countess von Schwerin - Skandau, born Dönhoff her niece Adele the good along with the Good Dombehnen ( Dębiany ) to the wedding with Werner Gebhard Louis v. Alvensleben - Neugattersleben from the Altmark region.

After the area was occupied by the Red Army in early 1945, the estate was as a result of World War II Poland.

Population Development

1818 lived in Rodehlen 131 inhabitants in 16 houses. 1939 1970 225 inhabitants of the village were 612 counted.

Policy

The village forms a mayor's office ( sołectwo ) to which the villages Dębiany, Gumniska and Markławka belong. Head of the Office Schulz is Bronisław Kowalczyk (2008).

Culture and sights

Worth seeing is the manor which was 1859-1861, other sources give 1820 as Year. The building is inspired by the architecture of Karl Friedrich Schinkel and is a typical construction of that time. Model of the house was the manor house of Countess Sophie von Schwerin in Skandau which Schinkel had played an active role. The house has ten window bays with arched windows. The driveway leads to the covered portal. The house is now unused and available for sale ( 2007).

Traffic

Rodele is limited to the west by the province road 591. To the south, this leads to about four kilometers through Winda (Contact ) and after about twelve kilometers through Ketrzyn ( Rastenburg ). In the north, the 591 leads after three kilometers through Barciany ( baleen ) and ends after 16 kilometers at the Polish border with Russia's Kaliningrad Oblast. Border crossing point there is not.

The northern boundary of the village is the road into about two kilometers away Dębiany ( Dombehnen ).

The nearest railway station is in Kętrzyn where there are direct to Olsztyn and Poznan. Kętrzyn can be reached by a regular bus service.

The nearest international airport is Kaliningrad, which is about 90 kilometers north-west is located on Russian territory. The nearest international airport on Polish territory is located about 190 kilometers west of Lech Walesa Airport, Gdansk.
