Rodong Sinmun

Rodong Sinmun ( " Arbeiter Zeitung ") is a North Korean newspaper and the organ of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea. It is published by the Rodong news agency and is the most widely read newspaper of North Korea. The first issue appeared on 1 November 1945 under the title Chongro ( " The right way "). On 1 September 1946, the Rodong Sinmun was given its present name. Quotes from the paper be circulated by the Korean Central News Agency ( KCNA ) and other international media, they serve as a source for assessing the position of the North Korean leadership on many topics.

Rodong Sinmun published daily. A typical output looks like this:

  • First page: editorials, reports on the activities of Kim Jong- us
  • Second page: items to the ideology of North Korean Communism ( Juche ideology )
  • Third side: Business news (domestic )
  • Fourth page: national and international news
  • Fifth page: propaganda against South Korea
  • Sixth page: propaganda against the United States and Japan

The editorial in which the WPK setting out its view on various topics and published instructions of the leadership, is the most important part of the newspaper. As in many North Korean media, there are no headings for topics of entertainment, such as lifestyle, television, radio etc. The Rodong Sinmun is mainly supplied to organizations such as schools, agricultural cooperatives and other employers. Supplies to individuals are high officials of party and state leaders reserved.

Since January 9, 2012 selected articles are published in English translation on the website of the Rodong Sinmun.
