Rodrigo Duterte

Rodrigo Roa " Rody " Duterte ( born March 28, 1945 in Maasin City, Leyte ) is a Philippine lawyer and politician. He is a longtime mayor and vice mayor of Davao City, and was in 2013 elected mayor of the city again in the elections in the Philippines.

Duterte grew up in Davao City, where his father Vicente Duterte as governor of the then undivided Davao Province (now Davao del Sur, Davao del Norte, Davao Oriental, Compostela Valley province, as well as any associated Davao City ) worked. After training as a lawyer Rodrigo Duterte worked since 1973, first as an instructor at the regional national police academy. From 1977 to 1986 he was then working for the prosecutor's office in Davao City. After the fall of the Marcos regime in 1986, he was appointed by the new government under Corazon Aquino as Vice Mayor of Davao City. In the following elections in 1988 he was elected to the office of mayor of the city and re-elected in 1992 and 1995. In 1998 he ran for a parliamentary seat in the Philippine House of Representatives and won the election. He represented the constituency number 1 of Davao City - the city is divided into three electoral districts. His term as a deputy lasted from 1998 to 2001. 2001 he ran again for mayor in Davao City and won the election. 2004 and 2007 he was re-elected. The mayoral election of 10 May 2010 now won his daughter Sara Duterte - Carpio, which thus replaced him in this office on 28 June 2010. Rodrigo Duterte himself was elected vice- mayor.

In light of the execution of the Filipino maid Flor Contemplacion 1995 in Singapore Duterte lit a Singaporean flag. In May 2013 he was elected mayor and his son Paolo to the Deputy Mayor.

Rodrigo Duterte was with Elizabeth Zimmerman, the daughter of German -American immigrants, married, lives today but separated from it. With her he has three children, Paolo, Sara and Sebastian. In addition, Duterte has with its current partner Honeylet has another daughter named Veronica, who was born in Los Angeles in 2004 and U.S. citizenship.
