Rodrigo Orgóñez

Rodrigo Orgóñez (* 1490, † April 26, 1538 in Las Salinas, Peru) was a Spanish soldier who was involved as a conquistador in the conquest of Peru and Chile.

Life

Orgóñez was already a veteran veteran in the armies of Emperor Charles V, who had already participated as flag bearer at Sacco di Roma, as he passes, together with Francisco Pizarro and Diego de Almagro to the Inca Empire. He had participated in the first conquest of Cuzco, when Francisco Pizarro formally took the Inca town with the entire entourage of the Conquistadores in possession and 86 Spaniards, among them Orgóñez declared solemnly citizens of the Spanish city of Cuzco. Orgóñez was among the first, employed by Pizarro Regidores (Spanish = aldermen ) Cuzco.

He was the ablest captain under Diego de Almagro. For his participation in the campaign Almagros to Chile, he was appointed Marshal of Neutoledo, the previous name for the province of Chile. With the recapture of Cuzco in April 1537 he supported Almagro against the Pizarro brothers.
