Roger Désormière

Roger Désormière (* September 13, 1898 in Vichy, † October 25th 1963 in Paris) was a French conductor.

Life

Désormière studied at the Conservatoire de Paris by Philippe Gaubert, Xavier Leroux, Vincent d' Indy and Charles Koechlin. In 1923 he founded, together, inter alia, with Henri Sauget, the " Ecole d' Arceuil ". Since 1925 he has served as conductor of the Ballets Russes in Paris. Since 1930, he led the Société de Musique d' Autrefois. In 1932 he became musical director of the company Pathé - Nathan and made in the subsequent period as a composer of film scores. From 1936 to 1940 he was Music Director of the Opéra -Comique and conductor of the Paris Symphony Orchestra. From 1944 to 1946 he was head of the Opéra National de Paris. He was also guest conductor at La Scala and the Royal Opera House in London. Paralysis as a result of thrombosis continued his career in 1952 to an end.
