Roland Andersson

Roland Andersson ( born March 28, 1950 in Malmö) is a former Swedish football player and current coach. The defender won several titles as a player in Sweden and ran for the Swedish national team.

Career

Playing career

Andersson played in his youth at Kävlinge GIF. In 1968 he moved to Malmö FF. With the club he was three time Swedish national champion and took twice the Svenska Cupen. In January 1975 he moved to league rivals Djurgårdens IF, for which he was two seasons running. In 1977 he returned to MFF and was once again champion. In addition, the Cup has been won twice and reached the final of the European Cup of Champions 1978/79. In 1983 he ended his active career.

Andersson was called 19 times in the Swedish national team. He was at the 1978 World Cup squad of country selection.

Coaching career

Directly after end of his career Andersson became a coach in the youth of MFF. In 1985, he moved to Al -Ittihad in Saudi Arabia, which he has edited until 1987. 1988 to 1990 he was manager of Lunds BK. In 1991, he returned as an assistant coach to Malmö FF. In 1993 he took again the Al -Ittihad, before he became an assistant to MFF again.

In 1995, Andersson abroad and supervised the Qatar Sports Club. Then he went to Switzerland to BSC Young Boys. In 1998 he returned to Sweden and became head coach at Malmö FF. After a break between 1999 and 2002, he returned to Arabia and Al- Shaab in charge of the United Arab Emirates. He had previously supported Sven -Goran Eriksson, the England coach as a game observer at the 2002 World Cup in the summer of 2002.

Following the 2004 European Andersson was assistant coach Lars Lagerback at the Swedish national team after Tommy Söderberg stopped as his partner. The supervised by him selecting qualified for the 2006 World Cup and the European Championship 2008. Due to his work, he was interim assistant coach Eriksson at Manchester City in the conversation. After failing to qualify for the World Cup 2010, he joined together with Lagerback back in October 2009 from his office.

In February 2010, Andersson followed as assistant coach Lagerback, as he took over the care of the Nigerian national team.
