Roland Gerber

Roland Gerber ( born May 20, 1953 in Lauda ) is a former German football player.

Career

Gerber played as a central defender in the years 1975-1981 at the 1 FC Cologne, where he witnessed the most successful years of the association. In the " Billy Goats ", he worked with Hennes Weisweiler and Rinus Michels. In Europe Champions Cup, Cup Winners' Cup and the UEFA Cup, he made a total of 20 games for the first FC Cologne. At the end of his career, he still played a season until 1982 when SV Darmstadt 98 in the 1st Bundesliga and then another year at VfL Osnabrück in the 2nd Bundesliga. Overall, he completed 143 top-flight appearances and scored eight goals. With Cologne he became German champion in 1978 and 1977 and 1978 DFB Cup winner.
