1977–78 DFB-Pokal

DFB Cup winner in 1978 was again the 1st FC Cologne. With the title defense and the simultaneous German championship for 1st FC Cologne in 1978 reached the Double. Coach Hennes Weisweiler had formed within two years of the most successful team in the history of the 1st FC Cologne.

Since the Cologne were already qualified as a master for the European Champion Clubs 'Cup, in which they only failed in the semifinals later in the Cupgewinner Nottingham Forest, took the runners- Fortuna Dusseldorf in part at the European Cup Winners' Cup, in which they are the final against FC Barcelona with 3: 4 nV lost.
