Roland Stoltz (ice hockey b. 1954)

Stig Roland Stoltz ( born August 14, 1954 in Överkalix ) is a retired Swedish professional ice hockey player and coach who has played in its active period from 1971 to 1989, including for the Washington Capitals in the National Hockey League.

Career

Roland Stoltz began his career as a hockey player in his hometown when Overkalix IF, for which he was active in the then third-tier Division 3 in the 1971/72 season. Then the attacker spent three years at IFK Luleå in Division 2 From 1975 to 1987 he was a regular player at Skellefteå AIK of the Elitserien, the highest Swedish professional ice hockey league newly established. In the season 1977/78 he won the Swedish championship title with Skellefteå. On June 5, 1981, the Swede signed a contract as a free agent with the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League. For the team he played but in the season 1981/82 only 14 NHL games in which he scored two goals each and two assists, before he returned to his original club Skellefteå AIK. In the season 1987/88 he was last in the Swedish third division Malå IF on the ice, for which he still denied at the start of the following season a game before he ended his active career at the age of 35 years.

As Head Coach Stoltz was repeatedly worked for his hometown club Skellefteå AIK. This he oversaw from 1988 to 1990, from 1995 to 1998 and most recently in the 2000/ 01 season.

Internationally

For Sweden Stoltz took part in the 1981 World Championship, where he won the silver medal with his team. In eight games He scored a goal and two assists.
