Rolf Disch

Rolf Disch ( born January 24, 1944 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) is a German architect with a focus on green building and solar architecture. Disch is among other things the architect located in Freiburg's Vauban Solar Community, of the heliotrope and inventor of the plus energy house.

Life and career

After craft lessons as carpentry and masonry Disch studied civil engineering at the Construction Engineering School of Fribourg and building construction at the Fachhochschule Konstanz. In 1969 he opened an office for solar architecture, which employs ten staff in 2008. From 1998 to 1999 Disch held a visiting professorship at the Hochschule für Gestaltung Karlsruhe.

Solar Architecture and Plusenergiehaus

Among the most famous buildings include the planned Disch Heliotrope and Solar Settlement in Freiburg's Vauban. In the Solar Settlement ( developers: Alfred T. Ritter and his sister Marli Hoppe- Ritter) Disch turned his invention concept of the plus energy house for the first time on an entire settlement. 59 houses were built there according to this standard, while the settlement is to a nearby busy road by the so-called Solar Ship, an office and service center, shielded. " Plus Energy House " is a registered trademark of Rolf Disch.
