Rolf Wanka

Rolf Wanka ( born February 14, 1901 in Vienna, † November 28, 1982 in Munich) was an Austrian actor [note. 1]

Life

Wanka studied at the Technical University in Prague and later at the Universities of Innsbruck and Vienna, economics, philosophy and medicine. He completed his studies in 1928 with the Dr. rer. pol. from. He then headed a machine factory.

In 1931, he appeared uncredited in the movie classic M and settled for the acting profession. After teaching in Vienna at Aurel Novotny 1933-1934 Wanka came from 1934 on in numerous Austrian, German and Czech films. In 1935, he was a partner of Marta Eggert in The whole world revolves around love.

Wanka embodied most elegant cavalier and outwardly impeccable gentleman. The multilingual cosmopolitan showed a preference for the international film and received in 1939 for his role as captain of Schlieden in the French production The big decision the Grand prix du cinéma français.

After the outbreak of the Second World War, he initially accepted an engagement at the Vienna Chamber games and was from 1940 to 1944 the artistic director of the Vienna theater while restricting his film work.

After the war he joined first primarily at the Raimund Theater and the Theater in der Josefstadt, from 1950, he stood in front of the camera. As a distinguished older gentleman, he often came into use, including several times in Spanish productions. Wanka, who last lived in Munich, appeared as a character actor on German stages and was a staff member at the Bayerischer Rundfunk.

Vanka was married his first wife, Ilse Vogl. He was married to his second marriage to actress Friedl Czepa. From a Liasion with Helene went Amon his son Rudolf Wanka (* 1954) ( ORF spokesman ) out, which he adopted at the age of 4 years. In 1954 he met his third wife Brigitta Dahlem, Lili Wanka, know.
