Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Cali

The Archdiocese of Cali (Latin: Archidioecesis Caliensis, Spanish: Arquidiócesis de Cali ) is a location in Columbia Roman Catholic archdiocese headquartered in Cali.

History

The Archdiocese of Cali was established on June 7, 1910 by Pope Pius X made ​​cessions of territory of the Archdiocese of Popayán Diocese as Cali. It was the archbishopric subject to Popayán suffragan. On May 1, 1927, the Diocese of Cali were from parts of its territory establishing the Apostolic Prefecture of Tumaco. Other annexations took place on November 14, 1952 establishing the Apostolic Vicariate of Buenaventura, on 17 December 1952 founding of the Diocese of Palmira and on 16 March 1962 on the establishment of the Diocese of Cartago.

On 20 June 1964, the Diocese of Cali by Pope Paul VI was. charged with the Apostolic Constitution Quamquam Christ to the archbishopric. The Archdiocese of Cali was on June 29, 1966 from parts of its territory to the founding of the Diocese of Buga.
