Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Garoua

The Archdiocese of Garoua (Latin: Archidioecesis Garuensis ) is a Roman Catholic archdiocese based in Garoua in Cameroon.

History

Pope Pius XII. founded the Apostolic Prefecture of Garoua on 9 January 1947 annexations of the Apostolic Vicariate Foumban. On 24 March 1953 she was elevated to the rank of Apostolic Vicariate.

With the bull Dum Tantis it was raised on 18 April 1950 in the rank of diocese, which was the Archdiocese of Yaoundé assumed as suffragan. With the Apostolic Constitution Eo magis catholica it was raised on 18 March 1982 in the rank of Metropolitanerzbistums.
