Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Madang

The Archdiocese of Madang (Latin: Archidioecesis Madanganus ) is a location in Papua New Guinea Roman Catholic archdiocese based in Madang.

History

Leo XIII. founded the Apostolic Prefecture of Kaiser-Wilhelms -Land on February 24, 1896 annexations of the Apostolic Vicariate of New Britain. Pius X divided them on 25 July 1913 in the prefectures Apostolic Eastern Kaiser-Wilhelms -Land and Western Kaiser-Wilhelms -Land.

On November 23 1922 she was charged with the Apostolic Constitution Incumbentis Nobis Apostolic Vicariate and took the name, Apostolic Vicariate Ostneuguinea on. It took the name, Apostolic Vicariate Alexis harbor, on 15 May 1952. The Vicariate was on 18 June 1959 from parts of its territory in favor of the establishment of the Apostolic Vicariate three Mount Hagen, Lae and Goroka. In the rank of Metropolitanerzbistums it was raised with the Bull Laeta incrementa on 15 November 1966, adopted the present name.
