Roman Catholic Diocese of Wewak

The Diocese of Wewak (Latin: Dioecesis Ueuakensis ) is a location in Papua New Guinea Roman Catholic diocese based in Wewak.

History

Pope Pius X founded the Apostolic Prefecture of Western Kaiser-Wilhelms -Land on July 25, 1913 from the division of the Apostolic Prefecture of Kaiser-Wilhelms -Land in the Apostolic Prefectures Eastern Kaiser-Wilhelms -Land and Western Kaiser-Wilhelms -Land. On November 14, 1922, she took the name of Central New Guinea Apostolic Prefecture on.

Using the Breve Quae rei sacrae it was collected on 22 August 1931 Apostolic Vicariate. On May 15, 1952, took the bull Ad latius prolatandam the name Vicariate Apostolic of Wewak on. With the Apostolic Constitution Laeta incrementa it was collected on 15 November 1966 bishopric.
