Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Santa Fe de Antioquia
The Archdiocese of Santa Fe de Antioquia (Latin: Sanctae Archidioecesis Fidei de Antioquia, Spanish: Arquidiócesis de Santa Fe de Antioquia ) is a location in Columbia Roman Catholic archdiocese headquartered in Santa Fe de Antioquia.
History
The Archdiocese of Santa Fe de Antioquia was established on August 31, 1804 by Pope Pius VII from cessions of territory of the Archdiocese of Nueva Granada en Santafe and the bishoprics of Cartagena and Popayán Diocese as Antioquía. It was the archbishopric of Santafe de Nueva Granada is a suffragan. On 14 February 1868, the diocese Antioquía were parts of its territory from the foundation of the diocese Medellin. The diocese Antioquía was subordinated to the new archbishopric Medellín suffragan on 24 February 1902. Other annexations took place on April 28, 1908 establishing the Apostolic Prefecture of Chocó and on February 5, 1917 to the foundation of the diocese of Santa Rosa de Osos.
On February 5, 1917 the diocese was annexed to the bishopric Antioquía Jericó. The diocese Antioquía - Jericó was divided into dioceses Antioquía and Jericó on 3 July in 1941. On November 14, 1952, the diocese Antioquía were parts of its territory from establishing the Apostolic Vicariate Quibdó. A further transfer of territory on 18 June 1988 foundation of the diocese Apartado.
On June 18, 1988, the diocese Antioquía was raised by Pope John Paul II with the Apostolic Constitution Spiritali sane to an archbishopric and renamed the Archdiocese of Santa Fe de Antioquia.
